Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet and engineer who was known for his noteworthy contributions in the field of art. One of the best known works of Michelangelo is his David, the eighteen-foot-tall statue sculpted in marble. When he began to work on it, he spent a lot of time trying to bring beauty and perfection for his masterpiece. He went on working tirelessly chiselling and hitting it very hard. And while he was working on it, a little boy went up to him and asked why he was hammering and banging it so hard. Michelangelo replied with a smile, "Young man, there is an angel inside this rock and I am letting him free."

St. Thomas was born a Jew and was called to be one of the twelve Apostles. His birth and death dates are unknown, but his feast day is celebrated July 3. He lived before the formal establishment of the Catholic Church but is recognized as the patron saint of architects. He was a dedicated but impetuous follower of Christ. When Jesus said He was returning to Judea to visit His sick friend Lazarus, Thomas immediately exhorted the other Apostles to accompany Him on the trip which involved certain danger and possible death because of the mounting hostility of the authorities.
